The Pilot Channel

Public Works Proposal

The Emergency Watershed Protection Grant will provide the majority of funding for the Proposed Pilot Channel, a 25' wide and 5' deep channel that runs from the confluence of the Ventura River above Foster Park bridge to about 1,100 ft above Camp Chaffee Rd. The length of work is expected to be about 3200' total, with 1500' on County-owned property. Once a pilot channel is made, rain from upcoming storms will have a place to go allowing a direct flow into the Ventura River. Trees, silt and debris will be removed to help water find the necessary turbulence, opening a clear path downstream instead of into and through our homes.
